Marie worked in the corporate world as a benefits consultant for Mesirow Financial Services in Chicago before starting her family. And while her favorite pastime as a child was drawing people, she majored in business in college. Marie did take a few art courses in college, however her desire to pursue painting was sparked when she served as an art appreciation volunteer in her child's classroom. With such a delightful springboard, Marie sought out local watercolor classes, starting with Peggy Taylor and went on to take workshops with Ted Nuttall. If you ask Marie, she'll quickly tell you that Lenox Wallace has been her primary inspiration and teacher for the majority of time she's been painting.  

As TWSA E-Newsletter Editor, Marie blends her corporate and creative backgrounds to provide an online publication that serves to keep us all in the loop.

After exploring a variety of subjects, Marie returned to her original love of painting people.  She almost exclusively paints portraits and figures.   Her subjects are usually random people that she finds interesting as well as commissioned pieces.
